We finish up the 1987 regular season with a battle between Texas and Texas A&M for the South West Conference title, the Iron Bowl to decide the SEC Champ and Miami looking to stay undefeated versus Notre Dame and South Carolina. That and plenty more!
#1 Nebraska faced #2 Oklahoma in Lincoln while Syracuse looked to remain undefeated versus West Virginia and the Pac-10 Title was on the line as UCLA played USC. All that and plenty more!
Week 11 would see the Big Ten title decided between Michigan State and Indiana while Alabama visited Notre Dame and the ACC title would be determined in Clemson, South Carolina.
Four colossal games headlined Week 10 of the 1987 College Football Season. #6 Auburn hosted #4 Florida State, #10 Georgia played #17 Florida in Jacksonville, #1 Oklahoma hosted their in-state rival #12 Oklahoma State and on Saturday night #5 LSU hosted #13 Alabama.
Jeff Burger returned for Auburn as the #6 Tigers hosted #10 Florida while the race in both the Big Ten and Pac 10 seemed to simplify and the legend of Troy Aikman started to grow at UCLA.
Week 7 featured two upstarts going against college football royalty as Oklahoma State hosted Nebraska and Syracuse hosted the defending champs Penn State. Week 8 saw Clemson look to stay undefeated as a big home favorite versus NC State and Indiana look to take down Michigan and make Hoosier football history.
Week 6 was "upset week" Six top 20 teams went down, including 5 to unranked opponents. We feature highlights from Indiana's historic upset of Ohio State, #4 Notre Dame heading to Pittsburgh to take on the Panthers and an SEC showdown between Georgia and LSU. Week 5 of the 1987 season featured the most important game of the 1987 season, Miami and Florida State. It was the first meeting between the two teams when both teams were ranked in the top ten. The game featured a combined 48 players that would eventually play in the NFL. Pete and Joe break down the game and the rest of the action from Week 5 of the 1987 season.
Week 4 featured major road tests for some of the best teams in the nation. #2 Nebraska went out west to take on the defending Pac 10 Champs and #12 Arizona State, #5 Miami played in Little Rock versus #10 Arkansas, and #7 Ohio State traveled south to take on #4 LSU.
Week 3 featured an SEC clash between Alabama and Florida which featured a freshman RB by the name of Emmitt Smith, a Heisman showdown between Tim Brown and Lorenzo White in South Bend and #8 Clemson hosting #18 Georgia in a classic southern rivalry.
Week 2 featured a top 5 matchup in Lincoln between UCLA and Nebraska, while the defending champs hosted Alabama and Notre Dame opened the season in the Big House against Michigan. We also preview and give you the odds on the 1987 Heisman race.
